Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the last poker table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He won a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest gamblers in the world. While playing web poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Gus is an excellent poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has little or no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amount. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world at times. The greatest players anywhere in the world could be players you have never heard about. Gus can be found playing web poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his abilities in cash rounds?
