Ah, the tilt. If a poker gambler states never to have stared faced over the barrel of a looming steam – they’re either telling a lie or they have not been playing very long. This does not mean of course that every poker player has gone on steam in the past, a few players have excellent willpower and carry their squanderings as a loss and keep it at that. To be a brilliant poker player, it is very important to treat your successes and your losses in a similar way – with little emotion. You compete in the game the same way you did following a difficult loss as you would after winning a huge hand. Most of the poker pros are not charmed by tilting following an awful beat as they are incredibly accomplished and you must be to.

You need to understand that you can’t win every hand you are in, even if you are heavily favored. Hands which commonly cause players to go on tilt are hands that you were the favored or at least thought you were until you were side swiped and you lost a large portion of your stack. Awful losses are going to happen. Accept that certainty right now, I will say it again – if your brother plays cards, if your parents enjoy cards, if your grandpa plays cards – They have all had poor defeats sometime. It is an unavoidable experience of competing in Hold’em, or for that matter any kind of poker.

Since we are assumingly (almost all of us) playing poker for one purpose – to earn a profit, it certainly makes sense that we would wager accordingly to maximize profits. Now let’s say you are up one hundred dollars off of a $100 deposit, and you suffer a gigantic hit in a NL game and your bankroll is only has remaining one hundred and twenty dollars. You’ve lost eighty dollars in a hand where you were certain to pick up $200two hundred dollars when you went all-in on the flop and held a ten to one advantage. And that fiend! He bled you dry on the river? – Well stop right here. This is a classic opportunity for a new player to begin tilting. They really just blew too much $$$$ on one round that they really should have won and they are pissed
