Internet poker has become world acclaimed recently, with televised events and celebrity poker game events. Its popularity, though, arcs back in fact a bit further than its TV ratings. Over the years several variations on the original poker game have been developed, including some games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely affiliated with blackjack than traditional poker, in that the gamblers bet against the bank rather than the other players. The succeeding hands, are the long-standing poker hands. There is little concealment or different types of bamboozlement. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to ante up before the dealer saying "No more wagers." At that point, both you and the casino and of course all of the different players acquire 5 cards. After you have observed your hand and the bank’s first card, you must in turn make a call bet or surrender. The call bet’s value is equal to your original wager, which means that the risks will have doubled. Bowing out means that your ante goes instantly to the casino. After the bet is the face off. If the bank does not have ace/king or better, your bet is given back, with a sum in accordance with the original bet. If the dealer does have ace/king or better, you succeed if your hand is greater than the bank’s hand. The casino pony’s up money equal to your ante and set expectations on your call bet. These expectations are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for 2 pairs
  • 3-1 for three of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
