Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to achieve closing table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a big pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest bettors anywhere in the world. While gambling on web poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of $40, 000. Gus frequently buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I know Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the min takes most of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amt.. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players in the world might just be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be found wagering on net poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in money games?
