Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to make it to the last poker table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While competing in net poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. Gus often competes in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen frequently buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I accept that Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has little or no reason to play at the game with the min buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players in the world but he cannot buy in for the total dollar value. I believe television can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest players in the world might be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen wagering on online poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in big stakes omaha hold’em and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash rounds?
