Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player in the world by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative comments from other people kill his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
He started playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is very humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
