Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve closing table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He won a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best players in the world. While playing internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He frequently participates in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then goes all-in. I believe Hansen is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the game with the min buy-in.
Playing for the min takes a majority of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amt.. I think tv can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players in the world could be guys you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be found participating in online poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in high stakes Omaha and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
