Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he could about the game. He routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning was not a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
